Information about the Alvernia University ice hockey team, NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA recruiting, sports scholarships, scores, player stats, and rankings. Most college and university team rankings, along with the latest scores, can be found in the table below. If you like to play sports, rather than just watch the game, you may be able to compete either at intercollegiate levels for competitive sports, or simply play intramural sports to have fun, and make new friends. It's important to look at team rosters online, for information such as the depth at each position, and the stats of key players. Are your own stats strong enough to make the team? Be realistic, and select a school where you'll be able to play, not just sit on the bench. Not all recruiting is done like NCAA football and basketball. NAIA college coaches have less restrictions concerning when they are allowed to talk with recruits, and NJCAA scouts may show up at your high school games without any prior notice. Colleges that are eager to recruit star freshman athletes may urge student-athletes to apply via early decision. Students who are considering applying via early decision should be aware of the binding commitment this entails.

Athletic Scholarship Information

Alvernia University ice hockey teamYou don't have to quarterback the university football team to a state championship to earn an athletic scholarship. Most major sports that are able to field a team in intercollegiate competition have sports scholarships available. Ranging from women's gymnastics to men's track and field, coaches are seeking players to build a team around. That leadership role often is accompanied by a full-scholarship. The best time to begin searching for scholarships is before your senior year, in order to meet application deadlines. Schools also confirm that it is important to file financial aid forms such as the CSS Profile early in the school year.

There are several major scholarship databases available online. With an aggregate of well over a million scholarships, worth more than $3.4 billion, the FastWeb.com scholarship search is the largest, most accurate and most frequently updated sports scholarship database. Average players often ask whether there are any sports scholarships available for them. Indeed there are, although you'll have to show a yearly pattern of improvement, and be ready to sacrifice yourself for the team. Take stock of your athletic abilities as you progress through high-school.

Team Practice

So, you've been recruited, or made it past a walk-on tryout. That's when the real challenge starts. You still have to make it through daily practices, and several additional rounds of cuts. A college team practice is far more demanding than high school, because the level of play is higher. Returning players are put through their paces, run drills, lift weights, and do the grunt work that comes with being on the team. Freshman and walk-ons, on the other hand, are special targets for the coaching staff, looking to test their ability.

Oak Tree4612,5007,0004,000
Human Bone11913,20018,00011,800

What you're left with after the dust settles, is the real team. These are the folks you lift with, and often live with as well. To succeed in practice, and actually make the team, here are some rules to follow. Sure, you know most of these, but do you actually do them?

Practice basic drills, especially targeting areas related to your position. Become a super-specialist, and you'll always find a place on the team. Be aggressive, and make a second try on a given play if you have time. It's one thing to make a good effort, but great players keep on trying until they succeed.

Create a Part-time Income Online

The goal here is to show you how to design a simple website that gets listed on search engines, and is able to generate a cash-flow within a few months. Sure, you've seen lots of sites telling you that it's easy to make money online, but if it was that easy, everyone would be rich. The truth is that creating a part-time income for yourself is possible, but it's a fair amount of work up-front. If you keep working on it a few hours a week, you can increase your daily earnings as your website develops. The basics are as follows:
Website Design Course
(6 steps to learn)
  1. Get a hosting package. Costs $5/mo, including a domain name.
  2. Website design can be simplified, using templates and RSS feeds.
  3. Write one 900 word article daily, with original photos.
  4. Drive search engine traffic via on-page optimization.
  5. Get approved to Google AdSense, and other affiliate programs.
  6. Earn money, beginning with $1/day, and keep publishing.

Doing business online is one of your best options to raise extra income. Success is governed by two main factors, visitor traffic and sales conversions. Basically, you need to register a domain name describing the type of business you want to start, and then build the website using a template in HTML, adding a database and programming routines as needed. The easiest way to start is by opening a Wordpress blog, and monetizing with Google AdSense pay-per-click ads. Adsense works great, in fact, but you have to understand the concepts, especially how text-ad bidding works, and how the Adsense code interprets your page text. Just making a website isn't enough, if no-one can find it. You'll then need online marketing skills, and the ability to drive conversions. All of this takes work.
